Meet the Instructor
Hello, there...
Thank you for stopping by my page. I’m guessing you’re here to gather a bit of information about myself. I’ll gladly share my story!
My name is Luci Asumendi. I’m a proud (Basque!) Idaho native who graduated from Vallivue High School. On a pursuit to further my education, I went on to receive my Bachelor of Science from Boise State University. Shortly after, I received my Masters of Education Administration degree from the College of Idaho.
I landed my first teaching job at Middleton High School in Middleton, ID teaching English. During my 12 years at Middleton High, I taught English, coached Boys Golf, JV Girls Basketball and Volleyball. Middleton is where I first received my Driver’s Education Training Certificate and began teaching Driver’s Education courses. Eventually, I made my way to Homedale, ID. The small town of Homedale is where I would set my ‘roots’. I taught English at Homedale Middle School as well as the High School. During my time in Homedale, I was also Athletic Director and Principal at both the middle school and, eventually the High School. While at Homedale, I continued to teach Driver’s Education classes when my time allowed for it. After 17 years as an educator at Homedale, I was offered an opportunity to become Assistant Superintendent in the Caldwell School District, which I accepted. I retired from the Caldwell School District, after 32 years in public education.
I have 3 amazing children, Sarah, Alex, and Zach. They are truly my pride and joy! I adopted Alex and Zach as infants from Haiti. Yes, each of my children had the privilege of having me as their Teacher and/or Principal. I’m sure if you ask them if it were a “privilege” their answers may be slightly different. However, we’ll move past that. My oldest, Sarah, has blessed me with 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. My son, Alex has also blessed our family with a little boy. For those counting, that’s 6 grandchildren! They too are my pride and joy!
Throughout my career, I have taught Driver’s Education classes; totaling over 10 years. These have included in-classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction. I have a passion for education and understand the importance of educating our youth to prepare them for their life’s journey. This includes things as basic (yet, important!) as getting their Driver’s License. This is why I have made the decision to start my business, Drive Smart Idaho (DSI) Driving School. As Owner Operator/Instructor, my goal is provide a necessary service to small towns like Homedale and surrounding communities. With me, you can trust your child is in good hands and they will soon be behind the wheel with the confidence they need to safely navigate the roads. Thank you for stopping by my page and taking the time to get to know me. I hope you give me the privilege of teaching you or your child how to drive!
